SETI Home is a scientific experiment, integrated in Boinc, which uses hundreds of thousands of PCs connected to the Internet, to scan the firmament looking for irregularities or small radiation amounts that indicate intelligent life.
How does SETI Home work? Very simply, from some of the biggest radio telescopes in the world you can get millions of pieces of data that is sent to users who use this screensaver to process them and look for irregularities.
Taking part in the project is completely free, and very simple; just install this screensaver and when your PC isn't working on anything it will work for SETI. The program shows you detailed information of the process with graphs in real time and numerous data on the evolution of the project. It is one of the first big distributive computing projects.
